“ Baby, it’s cold outside!”

BEAUTIFUL FAYE

I first met Faye for her bridal trial and we instantly connected over our love for dogs. Dog lover to dog lover, once you start talking about dogs… you just can’t stop! Faye helps less fortunate pups who are in need of assistance and a loving home, so I instantly loved her!

I arrived at a very cold and snowy, yet stunning Castle. I arrived early, as per usual so I decided to take a minute to catch a glimpse of the sunrise on what was going to be one of the best day’s in Faye’s life.

I let myself into The Gatehouse where the bride and bridal party would gather to start makeup and hair preparations for the big day. Inside, it was welcoming, nice and toasty but silent as the girls hadn’t arrived yet.

I chose a room upstairs that provided lots of natural lighting, I laid out my makeup kit and waited for the ladies to burst through the door. The ladies arrived on time and ready to get started, I saw Faye and gave her a big cuddle whispering with excitement “it’s your wedding day!”.

It was time to start makeup, I had the wonderful task of doing makeup for Faye (bride), her Mum and her sister.

The Makeup

During Faye’s trial we discussed the makeup look that she wanted to achieve for her wedding day. We talked about everything from the colours of the flowers and bridesmaids dresses to inspriation she may have seen in pictures.

Faye wanted to look glamorous, yet natural and not overly made up. Together, we decided on the makeup look that was perfect for her to enhance her natural features adding a small touch of glamour! Faye had a flawless, camera ready complexion, subtle shimmery eyes with a natural rosy glow - perfect for her winter wedding!

I had previously met Faye’s Mum during the bridal trial. She was also booked her in for a makeup trial as she felt nervous about having her makeup done (which, isn’t uncommon for mother’s of the bride, or groom!). She shouldn’t have felt nervous, we created a subtle, natural look for her that had emphasis on making sure her skin looked youthful, fresh, camera ready whilst using tones to compliment her outfit.

Faye’s sister requested a subtle bronzed makeup something that would make her look healthy and sun kissed as she had recently been feeling under the weather - she was really happy with how the makeup looked when she looked in the mirror. As a makeup artist, you always have that two seconds of fear when you hand your client the mirror hoping that they will love what you have created for them.

Makeup, Done!

One hour before the ceremony, makeup was finished. It was time to get into dresses, buckle up shoes and start thinking about heading off to the ceremony, when Faye’s Mum and Sister had their dresses on I invited them back to my chair for final top up’s… you always need a touch up of lipstick after drinking bubbles.

Faye had got her dress on, so I popped into her room to say goodbye. She took my breath away, she looked beautiful. I wished her a Happy Wedding Day and I started to carry my kit downstairs to load up my car; whilst walking through The Gatehouse I got to meet Faye’s dad who was eagerly awaiting her arrival downstairs - it’s always a really heart warming moment.

I loaded up my car and waved goodbye to her relatives outside.

I really enjoyed being a part of Faye’s wedding day, I cross paths with a lot of different people and I feel really grateful I crossed paths with Faye. I have since seen her, she came back to my studio after the wedding to have her makeup done for a special occasion and I’m sure I will see her again soon.
