Styled Wedding Photoshoot at Frensham Hall, Farnham

Wedding Makeup at Frensham Hall

What is a styled wedding photoshoot?

A styled shoot is a staged wedding photo shoot - that’s right… it’s all fake! However, it’s extremely similar to a real wedding.

I’m often contacted by local photographers asking if I would like to take part in such photoshoots - I will always take part in at least one a year. The photographer normally puts together lots of ideas and brings together some of their favourite local wedding suppliers to stage a wedding and take photographs (which local suppliers benefit from for their portfolios).

Let me tell you about the day, come behind the scenes…

I arrived at the beautiful Frensham Hall (which is actually, a school!) and when it’s not in use for the students, it’s used as a wedding venue so it’s very unique.

Firstly, I met with the gorgeous models (Kesh and Hattie) who are a real life couple which is great for the photoshoot as you can feel the real chemistry and love between them.

I did makeup for both models. For Kesh, just a little male grooming and for Hattie I created a soft, sun kissed makeup … this took me just over an hour and they were ready to get dressed. Kesh was dressed in a black tuxedo and Hattie in a gorgeous ivory wedding dress.

Typically, UK weather is unpredictable! It was a race against time to capture some photographs outside, the sunshine peeped through the dark clouds and of course it wasn’t long before the rain drops started falling. But, it wasn’t going to stop us! It wasn’t too long before the sun reappeared…

Photographs are not the only perk from a styled wedding photoshoot, it’s also the sweet treats from the other generous wedding suppliers.

The sweet treat of the day was ICE CREAM! We were spoilt for choice with flavours - I chose Pistachio. What’s your favourite?

Another perk is NETWORKING with fellow wedding suppliers. It’s always a great day of ‘talking shop’, making new friends, having a good laugh together and discussing opportunities you may be able to offer each other in the future.

Once we’d eaten our ice creams, thrown as much confetti as we could for the staged confetti photos, it was time to head inside (into the warm!).

The wedding breakfast table had been beautifully dressed by Claire (My Wedding Hire). A photoshoot such as these isn’t just about the wedding dresses and décor, it’s also about the finer details such as makeup and hair styling, wedding cake, beautiful calligraphy on wedding breakfast menu’s, flowers and colour choices.

Everything is constructed so well and photographed as if it’s a real wedding from bridal preparation’s to cutting the cake!

As a wedding makeup artist you try your best to capture bridal makeup on your own camera/smart phone.

However, you just can’t beat professional photography!

Here are some of the gorgeous photographs:
